Handler was 19 when she decided to move to Los Angeles and pursue acting. Handler began acting in order to earn income. Handler made the decision to focus on stand-up comedy after she turned 21 following the realization of her storytelling skills. The beginning of her career Handler started out her profession as part of the Oxygen network, which was an all-female cast on the hidden camera/comedy reality television series Girls Behaving badly. From 2002 until 2005, the show was aired. Handler went on to work in numerous other shows including Weekends at D.L. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend (and HBO) have been able to broadcast live stand-up shows. In 2010, it was announced that she was to host the MTV Video Music Awards 2010.
